Privacy policy
Last updated 23 September 2026
Restoring Hope Athletics, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Chicago. This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, why, and who else is involved. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
The short version: we collect what you send us, and what is needed to process a donation. We do not run advertising, we do not use analytics, we do not sell or rent anything about you, and outside our donation pages this website sets no cookies at all.
What we collect
When you use our contact form: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the subject you select, and your message. This is sent to our own inbox by email. We do not store it in a database.
When you donate: donations are processed by Stripe. Payment details are entered directly into Stripe's own secure form — we never see or handle your card number. Stripe passes us your name, email address, the amount and the date, so that we can send your receipt and thank you properly.
When you browse: nothing that identifies you personally is collected by us. We run no analytics and no advertising trackers, and we set no cookies of our own. Stripe's fraud-prevention software, described below, loads only on our donation pages.
Fraud prevention through Stripe
Stripe's software runs on our donation pages — and only there — to help detect fraudulent payments before they happen. Stripe's own wording describes what this involves, and we use it here so that nothing is lost in paraphrase:
We use Stripe for payment, analytics, and other business services. Stripe collects identifying information about the devices that connect to its services. Stripe uses this information to operate and improve the services it provides to us, including for fraud detection. You can learn more about Stripe and read its privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.
In practice this means Stripe looks at characteristics of your device and browser, and at general patterns of activity, to tell real donors apart from automated attacks. Stripe may also load a CAPTCHA for the same purpose, and when you open a donation page it sets two cookies on this website for the same purpose: __stripe_sid, which lasts 30 minutes, and __stripe_mid, which lasts a year. This information goes to Stripe, not to us, and Stripe states that it is never used for advertising and is never sold or rented.
We rely on this because donation forms are a common target for criminals testing stolen card numbers. Preventing that protects our donors and the funds meant for student-athletes.
How we use what we collect
To reply to you when you contact us. To process your gift and send your receipt and tax acknowledgment. To manage recurring gifts, if you choose to give monthly. And to keep the records a nonprofit is required to keep.
We do not send marketing email, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you donated.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of established services to run this site. Each receives only what it needs.
- Stripe
- Payments, recurring gifts, and fraud prevention
- Resend
- Sending our email to you
- Cloudflare
- Routing email sent to our addresses
- Vercel
- Hosting this website
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
How long we keep things
Contact form messages stay in our inbox for as long as they are useful for answering you. Donation records are held by Stripe and kept for as long as charity record-keeping and tax rules require.
Young people
Restoring Hope Athletics serves student-athletes in grades 6 to 12, and many of them are under 18. This website is written for adults — parents, guardians, donors and coaches — and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.
Information about the young people in our programs is collected in person, through our program paperwork, and is not covered by this policy.
Your choices
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.
To cancel or change a monthly gift, you can manage it yourself through the link in your receipt, or contact us and we will do it for you.
